New York, NY – July 1, 2021 – Metal Powder Report , which is an international magazine published by Elsevier and the powder metallurgy industry’s most authoritative voice, published a Special Feature article on Senvol’s machine learning software for additive manufacturing (AM), Senvol ML, and its use across various U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) programs.
The article, titled “The return of the king?,” focuses on the Senvol ML software and how AM “software specialist Senvol is working with the US Armed Forces to develop new aerospace and defense opportunities.”
Metal Powder Report’s News and Features Editor Liz Nickels writes:
Senvol’s “data-driven machine learning software for additive manufacturing (AM), Senvol ML, is being used to assist with a US Air Force program looking into multi-laser AM. The aim of the project, a collaboration between the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), is to develop methodology for demonstrating the airworthiness of the technology through using an EOS M400-4 quad laser powder bed fusion machine. Senvol ML software will be used to help improve process and characterization, and analyze all project data.”
Nickels continues: “In November 2020 the company [Senvol] was awarded a first contract with the United States Army Research Laboratory (ARL) to apply Senvol ML in developing a qualification plan for AM that leverages machine learning (ML) algorithms. The qualification plan can be applied to any part using any AM process and any AM machine. By leveraging ML algorithms, the qualification plan will also be more efficient than more traditional qualification plans and require fewer builds and less time….”
