Senvol Partners with America Makes and ASM International on AM Selection

New York, NY – January 30, 2017 – Given the proliferation of available additive manufacturing (AM) machines and materials, it is becoming increasingly difficult to select the right AM machine and material for a specific application. This is particularly true given that there are now over 1,500 industrial AM machines and materials.

Senvol has partnered with America Makes and ASM International to create learning tool exercises for additive manufacturing machine and material selection. The learning tool exercises help AM users get the most out of the powerful search features of the Senvol Database. Both the learning tool exercises and the Senvol Database are online and free to use. The Senvol Database is the first and most comprehensive database of industrial AM machines and materials, and is used by both beginners and experts alike. The learning tool exercises are specifically intended for beginners and help guide in the AM machine and material selection process.

The learning tool exercises were piloted at several universities that are leaders in AM. Tim Simpson, Co-Director of CIMP-3D and Paul Morrow Professor of Engineering Design and Manufacturing at Penn State University, observed, “The exercises are spot on in terms what of someone may face in industry.”

Leanne Gluck, Deputy Director of Workforce and Education at America Makes, commented, “The Senvol Database is a tremendous resource for the entire industry, and with the addition of these learning tool exercises, we are furthering our commitment to expand mission critical knowledge and training on additive manufacturing.”

Zach Simkin, President of Senvol, added, “We are very pleased to partner with both America Makes and ASM International on this. America Makes has a clear vision to expand additive manufacturing knowledge, and ASM International has a rich history of educating industry on materials information.”

America Makes is the nation’s leading and collaborative partner in AM technology research, discovery, creation, and innovation. ASM International is the world’s largest and most established materials information society.
