San Francisco, CA – November 10, 2014 – Senvol Co-President Annie Wang addressed delegates at the World 3D Printing Technology Industry Summit today. This is the first time the Summit was held in the U.S. The previous two Summits took place in Beijing and Qingdao, China.
In her talk, Wang stressed that additive manufacturing is not simply a manufacturing solution, but rather is a supply chain solution. Wang detailed the seven supply chain scenarios that tend to lend themselves well to additive manufacturing and shared several recent case studies that Senvol has conducted.
Given the numerous international attendees, she also covered topics relating to the cost of additive manufacturing in foreign countries and stressed that the cost structure could be significantly different. Costs such as labor, real estate, energy, equipment and consumables are location specific and must be carefully considered in any cost-benefit analysis.
