Detroit, MI – June 11, 2014 – Annie Wang and Zach Simkin, Senvol’s co-Presidents, presented to a standing-room only crowd of over 200 attendees at the RAPID Conference today.  The RAPID Conference is the largest additive manufacturing conference in North America.

The presentation, “Determining Cost-effectiveness of Additive Manufacturing,”  discussed an overall strategy that details how to identify and determine which parts are commercially viable candidates for additive manufacturing. The presentation outlined the framework and discussed the specific process steps that are necessary to conduct this analysis. Questions that were addressed included: How do I analyze my company’s current cost structure (including secondary costs, such as inventory, downtime, and shipping)? How do I compare those costs to the cost of additive manufacturing? When commercially viable parts are identified, how does my company know whether to produce those parts in-house or to use a third party supplier? How do we properly present these findings to the business decision-makers in our organization?

Senvol works with several Fortune 500 manufacturers in industries such as aerospace, oil & gas, consumer products, and automotive. Specific case studies from this work were shared with the audience.

In addition to its own presentation, Senvol was specifically highlighted by both of the conference’s opening keynote presenters on Monday.

The RAPID Conference was held from Monday, June 9th through Thursday, June 12th at the Cobo Center in downtown Detroit. For more information, please visit the RAPID website.
